Player-edited video featuring Faxion Online's active combat. This is one of the better videos I could find out there that showed quite a bit of what the game had to offer. Unfortunately, there was so much more to show that either we didn't have enough time to release or just didn't make it into a video.
The video, I believe was captured and edited during beta, features a player's "Paladin Build" which essentially boils down to a fighter-focused character with the ability to heal themselves and others. The video jumps from zone to zone but mostly features the Gluttony and Pride zones of Fields of Hunger and Ascedia Peaks, respectively. The abilities, designed by Jonathan Pollard and myself (mostly Jonathan) and artistically created by Lee Amarakoon, are the highlight of this video for me. Because it's a combat video, you see a large amount of abilities being triggered in small-scale skirmishes. We had a couple innovative ideas for Faxion's combat system in what we called Visceral Combat Effects and Combat Wards. Visceral Combat Effects are on-screen effects that notify the player that a specific effect has been applied to the character. Combat Wards are trainable player spells that are placed on the ground that trigger AOE effects on players that enter the affected area. Unfortunately, this video leaves out Territory Control, the zones of Heaven and Hell, and many other impressive systems and other magnificent places to visit. |
